"Retrograde" endoscopic submucosal dissection technique after submucosal tunneling for the resection of a superficial submucosal tumor - 2º Prémio (Vídeo) João Santos-Antunes, Margarida Marques, Rui Morais, Guilherme Macedo Centro Hospitalar Universitário de São João A 19 years-old female was referred for endoscopic resection of a granular cell tumor located in the distal esophagus; endoscopic ultrasound showed a 2cm lesion located in the submucosa. We started the procedure the same way as in submucosal tunneling endoscopic resection (STER). However, we found the lesion to be very superficial, precluding STER due to the impossibility of maintaining mucosal integrity. Therefore, we performed mucosal incision starting from the submucosal tunnel to the lumen (retrograde approach). After reaching the lumen, we performed circumferential mucosal incision, with complete resection. Both mucosal defects were closed. The procedure took 40 minutes, uneventfully. Error
