An 83-years-old woman was hospitalized for acute cholangitis secondary to a mucinous neoplasia of the bile duct. A palliative approach was decided, however conventional methods (plastic and metallic biliary stents) were not effective due to the thick mucus. We present two extreme approaches to palliation of this condition: direct peroral cholangioscopy with argon-plasma coagulation and placement of a large uncovered metallic stent in common bile duct. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that a colonic stent has been used in the bile duct.
