Mucocele of the appendix - unexpected diagnosis in colonoscopy

Male, 42 years old, with no relevant personal history. He presented complaints of constipation and pain in right iliac fossa with one year of evolution. In this context, he performed a colonoscopy that identified a submucosal protrusion of about 2,5cm at the level of the appendiceal orifice. After biopsy on biopsy, drainage of mucinous and viscous contents was observed and aspirated, with complete disappearance of the submucosal protrusion. The abdominal-CT revealed a slight thickening of the appendix with heterogeneous content, without densification of adjacent adipose planes. Surgical resection of the appendix confirmed the diagnosis of low grade appendicular mucinous neoplasia.
