SPED Presentation and mission The Portuguese Society of Digestive Endoscopy (Sociedade Portuguesa de Endoscopia Digestiva - SPED) was founded in 1979 and is a non-profit scientific association of public utility that brings together physicians and other healthcare professionals with interest in digestive endoscopy in Portugal.
The goals of SPED are:
To promote the development of digestive endoscopy on behalf of the Portuguese population;
To disseminate the update of ideas, knowledge and projects in the field of digestive endoscopy;
To stimulate research in digestive endoscopy;
To promote contacts, and national and international exchange between different professionals working in the field of digestive endoscopy;
To develop educational activities leading to training and improvement of physicians and other healthcare professionals;
To contribute to the establishment of training and practising norms in digestive endoscopy.
