A rare cause of metastatic disease in the stomach Maria Azevedo Silva, Carina Leal, André Ruge, Alexandra Fernandes, Maria Fernanda Cunha, Helena Vasconcelos Centro Hospitalar de Leiria A 45-year-old man was admitted to the emergency room with asthenia, weight loss and fever, followed by melaena. The initial workup revealed a severe anemia and an extensive retroperitoneal mass. Upper endoscopy showed atypical gastric ulcers, one of which with a visible vessel submitted to endoscopic hemostasis. Gastric and retroperitoneal biopsies showed a neoplasia of unknown origin. The patient then complained of an enlarged right hemiscrotum suggestive of a testicular tumor in the physical examination. A radical orchiectomy was performed. Histopathologic findings were compatible with a testicular seminoma. Revision of both gastric and retroperitoneal biopsies was indicative of metastatic seminoma.
